About us

Our journey began in Brunei, where we lived for a while. We’ve always been drawn to bukhur, oud, and beautiful scents, they’ve been a natural part of our daily life.

One day, something truly special happened. The Princess of Brunei, who owned the school where I was teaching, was preparing for her husband’s birthday. Everyone knew he loved oud, and as he was also a patron of our school we wanted to surprise him with a truly special gift. The principal of the school invited a well-known Bruneian oud artisan to present their wild agarwood oil and chips. Knowing about our shared passion for oud, I was also invited to join the meeting. That day changed everything for us.

After meeting the artisan in person we were fascinated by his knowledge, passion and the journey of the oud chips and oud oil had been through to then be there resting in the palm of our hands.

Over time, we visited his factory several times, watched the distillation process up close, and learned deeply about wild Bruneian agarwood and traditional craftsmanship. The purity, depth, and authenticity of what we experienced completely amazed us, it was unlike anything we’d ever encountered.

From that moment “A&Y Agarwood” was born, a vision to share the beauty, rarity, and soul of Bruneian oud with the world. Bruneian oud is truly one of a kind: rich, elegant, and deeply spiritual. We want people everywhere to experience it in its purest form, just as we did.
